One of these days we will announce that they have released the stable version, but that time has not come yet. What they have released today is WINE 9.0-rc5, which is the fifth Release Candidate of the next stable version of the most popular software for running Windows applications on other operating systems. Some Linux user has probably never launched a Microsoft system executable with WINE directly, but it is the basis for other software such as Bottles or PlayOnLinux, among others.
Before moving on to the news, we must talk about one that is not related to the software, but rather to how or where they publish the information. Last week we notice that there was some error in the note, and it seems that it had to do with this: now the information is en GitLab, and not directly in WineHQ as until now.

- wldap32:parse – test_ldap_bind_sA() states that the server is down on w1064v2009.
- BVE trainsim does not show its logo in the main window.
- Unfortunate Spacemen crashes on startup.
- Celtic Kings runs out of memory within seconds when music is on.
- Wine is broken in Termux since 8.17-39-g25db1c5d.
- VA-11 HALL-A crashes on startup.

Now available
WINE 9.0-rc5 can now be downloaded from the next button. Most likely, they will release WINE 9.0-rc6 next week, but the stable version will arrive soon. It was expected and continues to be expected for the end of January or beginning of February, and after that moment preparation will begin for WINE 10, which will arrive in 2025.
