Google's Chrome browser has become the one to beat since its launch in 2008. Few dare to compete against it, among them Firefox on all types of computers, Safari on macOS, and Edge on Windows, but most take the "if you can't beat them, join them" approach and launch their own Chromium-based offerings. Vivaldi Technologies is doing just that, and its Vivaldi 2.7 was released today.
This version, which has been in development for the last two months, comes with many improvements that will make us more productive. Furthermore, they haven't missed the opportunity, and Vivaldi 2.7 is now based on Chromium 76.0.3809.110, the latest version of the open-source version of Chrome, on which Google's own browser is also based.
What's new in Vivaldi 2.7
- New option accessible with the right click that allows us to silence a web page.
- Ability to access our user profiles faster by creating desktop shortcuts for a specific user profile (Windows).
- New option in the settings to enable or disable Flash Player more easily.
- The status bar now informs users about the current status of a web page at the bottom of the window.
- Improved stability to ensure there are no unexpected crashes in macOS.
Vivaldi 2.7 is now available for Windows, macOS, and Linux from this link . For Linux, it's available for Debian/Ubuntu and Fedora/SUSE as DEB and RPM packages, respectively. Once installed, and just like Chrome, the Vivaldi repository is added, so updating is as simple as opening your distribution's software updater and applying the updates.
