The news about the change of course in Ubuntu has been and is perhaps the news of the year within the Gnu / Linux World. So much so that the charismatic leader of the distribution has had to clarify many doubts that the Ubuntu Community had about the new changes.
Doubts about what will happen to Unity 7 or what the change will look like for users using Unity 7 on an LTS distribution. Questions that have been answered leaving headlines at least curious.
Most striking of all is the fact that Unity as a desktop will continue to be present in Ubuntu repositories, although it won't be the default desktop of the distribution. This will allow users who do not want to switch desktops from doing so, but Unity 7 will no longer have major updates or changes.

Shuttleworth has clarified that Ubuntu 16.04 users will change their desktop with the next Ubuntu LTS version, but in Ubuntu (and Canonical) they are working to make the process as less traumatic as possible, being clean and without problems for the user.
The graphical server Mir will still be on Ubuntu, but its development slows down, already admitting the arrival of Wayland, a graphical server that has been chosen by many users, distributions and official flavors of Ubuntu.
And although there are still many unknowns about Ubuntu's new direction, the truth is that many users will reassure themselves knowing that their beloved Unity will continue to be present and as an option for users who do not want to use Gnome Shell. In any case, until we test future versions we will not be able to decide on these Ubuntu decisions, although the truth is that Unity 7 came to conquer the desktops of many computers or maybe not?
