The Steam Deck has returned to get Linux gamers to 1%

Steam deck

Less than a month ago, Valve he presented su Steam deck. At first, it seemed to me that its price was not exactly low, and more considering that it would be limited to Steam games for Linux, but later we learned that it would use Proton, which also allows access to some titles for Windows, and, most importantly, that it's like a computer, so different operating systems can be installed on it.

But the way things are. Those who like video games and want to do it on a PC opt for Windows. MacOS users buy their computers for other reasons and then end up throwing some games, but Linux people are a minority. Back when the Steam store was something new, Linux gamers hit ... 1%, but it dropped soon. Now, about two weeks after the introduction of the Steam Deck, they went back up, and it did so quickly coinciding with the launch of this kind of hybrid between console and PC.

The Steam Deck will be available later this year

As we see in the middle GamingOnLinux, in July Linux players were slightly above 0.8%. With the introduction of the Steam Deck, the line goes up a lot until it reaches 1%, yes, it is still little, but the "boom" has taken place.

Everything seems to indicate that the reason for this rise is the presentation of the Valve console, which probably those users who registered and started playing on Steam for Linux have returned after hearing the news. What remains to be seen is what happens in the future. It cannot be ruled out that it happens like that time, in fact it is what I hope will happen, but neither that things change a bit and we all win.
