Samsung today unveiled its most exclusive and highly anticipated product in San Francisco: the famous foldable smartphone with a flexible screen that has been the talk of the town for years. Ten years after the first Galaxy, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has arrived , the South Korean company's new and expensive offering. It will be available starting April 26th and will cost a hefty €1750, a price befitting the exceptional product you'll receive in return.
This is the first foldable smartphone , whose screen can be completely folded. It transforms its external panel of just 4.6 inches into a large 7.3-inch screen that resembles a tablet like the 7-inch Galaxy Tab. As they've said, the future is here, and the future is flexible. It's truly incredible what can be done with the new display from the South Korean company. Moreover, it offers much more than just that appeal.
Inside, it boasts impressive hardware, including 12GB of LPDDR4 RAM and a 4380 mAh battery (split between the two sides of the screen) that ensures good battery life despite its large display. It also features six cameras: three on the rear (16MP), one on the front, and two on the front (10MP). The SoC is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, manufactured using a 7nm process. Storage is up to 512GB of Universal Flash Storage 3.0.
At its core, it runs Android 9.0 Pie with our favorite kernel, Linux . And, as usual, it features a user interface (UI) tweaked by Samsung. Furthermore, with its App Continuity feature, you can seamlessly switch between the external and internal pop-up panels, instantly continuing what you were doing but on a larger screen. And from what we've gathered, it supports running up to three apps simultaneously.
As if that weren't enough, it will come with LTE and 5G connectivity , and a 50% thinner and more durable Super AMOLED display. Furthermore, Samsung is already working with app developers to adapt their apps to the new smartphone and take full advantage of the foldable screen's capabilities, making them up to three times faster than other current competing smartphones.
