Although it is not exclusive to this distribution, one of the functions that most attracts my attention from Arch Linux is that it uses a model in which it is installed once and can be updated for life (if nothing strange happens in the future) from the same operating system. But that doesn't mean they don't release updated images. In fact, they do it once a month and the ISO image released in August is the first to use the Linux 5.2 kernel, more specifically the latest stable version available, the Linux 5.2.5 which was released two days ago, on July 31st.
The new version or, rather, the name of the new image is Arch Linux 2019.08.01, and you don't have to be a lynx to know that the numbering means August 1, 2019 (yesterday). What this version includes is nothing more than all the updates that were available in their official repositories until July 31, among which we have security patches and software updates for the rest of the packages, such as applications.
Arch Linux 2019.08.01 now available
As we have mentioned previously, Arch Linux "does not release new versions" of its operating system, that is, unlike other distributions, all new features are added in the form of updates that are always available, so this, like the rest of images released every month, it is to perform a clean install, restore or install the operating system for the first time.
Although this is something that veterans will already know, users who already have Arch Linux installed on their computer can install all the updates included in ISO 2019.08.01 by opening a terminal and typing the following command:
sudo pacman -Syu
If, on the other hand, you want to carry out a clean installation, you can download the new ISO image from this link.
