Arch Linux June Image Now Available, Arrives with Linux 5.1

Arch Linux June with Linux 5.1.5

Most operating systems, today especially macOS, release a new version of an operating system from time to time. macOS keeps releasing a new system every year, around October, while Windows 10, if they deliver what they promised, will be the latest version of Microsoft's system, which means that we will receive all updates on the same system. This model of updates is also used by several Linux distributions, among which is Arch Linux.

But as in Windows, just because an operating system is installed once and receives updates for life does not mean that new ISO images are not released. And that's what Arch Linux has done again, launching the ISO image for June of your operating system. Linux 5.0 reached the end of its life cycle (EOL) last month, so the new ISO image of this distribution "for advanced users" has arrived with Linux 5.1, v5.1.5 to be exact. We remember that the most updated stable version is Linux 5.1.8 Linux 5.1.9.

Arch Linux: One Installation, Infinite Updates

Linux 5.1 It was officially released in May and came with new features such as support to configure Zstd compression levels in the Btrfs file system, better file system monitoring or the possibility of starting a device-mapper without using initramfs. It also included native support for Live Patch, a promised feature on systems like Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo that was ultimately left in the draft.

Users interested in enjoying the latest version of Arch Linux can download its latest ISO image from this link. Those of you who were already using it, as you already know, can update to the June version by opening a terminal and typing the following:

sudo pacman -Syu

The new version also includes updated software and the May 2019 security patches.
