Nitrux + Numix = Ozon OS, the Linux that promises

Ozon OS Linux look

Ozone OS It may be a 2015 war distro, or so it seems from its attractive design. We have already seen the great evolution of other Linux distributions, such as Deepin and some interesting projects like Evolve OS and Elementary, but Ozon OS is a distribution that was born from the collaboration of two existing projects: Numix and Nitrux.

Let's go by parts, Numix OS It was intended to be a distro that would focus on a careful design and customization of the graphic themes and the traditional icons of the environments that we are used to seeing. In principle Numix was born as a theme for GNOME and Unity to give a more elegant and modern vision visually, but it was transformed into a complete distro. But it did not exist as such, although the developers behind Numix who have teamed up with Nitrux SA for Ozon.

Nitrox It is more of the same, although this one has seen the light. A new look to renew traditional graphical environments and give a new rejuvenated look to our Linux. But when they come together, it results in a new distribution called Ozon OS in which the two development groups converge.

According to its developers, apart from a modern and minimalist design, Ozon OS will also be optimized for gaming. But at the moment we have to be patient, since at the moment we only have an Alpha version released based on Fedora 20 and maybe soon we will see the Beta and the final version based on Fedora 21.

Ozon OS will use the environment atom shellAs you know, a genuine new set of extensions that can be installed on top of GNOME Shell and that has its own dock, panel and app launcher. And we will see what those optimizations are for the players that they talk about (possibly it will come with graphics drivers and Steam). By the way, they also have an icon theme, plymouth theme, wallpapers and soon also a GTK theme ...
