MX Linux 25.2 It is now available as a new maintenance update for this popular Debian-based distribution. The “Infinity” edition arrives four months after 25.1, renewed with the Linux 7.0 kernel, updated packages based on Debian 13.5 and several improvements aimed at both the desktop and the system installation.
The project continues to prioritize a lightweight, stable, and flexible experience, maintaining its classic approach compared to other distributions more focused on radical changes. In addition to updating internal components, the developers have introduced improvements to MX Linux's own tools and new options to facilitate installation and compatibility with modern hardware.
MX Linux 25.2 improves its Debian 13.5 base with Linux 7.0
The main new feature of MX Linux 25.2 is the inclusion of the Linux 7.0 kernel in certain editions and AHS (Advanced Hardware Support) variants, which is especially important for users with recent computers or cutting-edge hardware. This improves the distribution's support for modern graphics cards, current processors, and newer devices.
The new version is also based on Debian 13.5 “Trixie”, integrating all the security updates and bug fixes accumulated in the latest revision of the parent distribution. This allows for a more stable and secure experience without altering the conservative philosophy that characterizes the project.
MX Linux 25.2 also maintains its different editions with Xfce, KDE Plasma, and Fluxbox, allowing users to choose between a more traditional environment or more modern desktop experiences. The project continues to offer images with systemd and alternative variants based on SysVinit for those who prefer a more classic system.
Among the most notable improvements is a new text-based installation mode, designed to facilitate deployments from the command line or on machines with limited resources. The developers have also fixed several issues found in previous versions related to the installer and user profile creation.
The distribution continues to rely on its well-known MX Tools, one of the most valued features by the community. These utilities allow for easy management of snapshots, kernels, repositories, and advanced configurations, something that continues to differentiate MX Linux from other Debian-based distributions.
