When we talk about Linux, the penguin always comes to mind; if we talk about Mozilla, the dinosaur always appears; if we speak of Gnu sooner or later the «wildebeest» appears.
All major software programs and distributions have a mascot or logo that identifies them. But not all of them. LibreOffice , the famous office suite, doesn't have a mascot , and its logo is represented by the document icon.
That's why the organization behind LibreOffice has launched a contest to choose the new mascot for the office suite. This mascot must meet a series of requirements and requests from the contest organizers . The winners will receive a Slimbook Katana, the runner-up will receive a Nextcloud package with a Raspberry Pi 3, and the third-place winner will receive a Nitrokey Pro 3.

The deadline for submitting drawings of the new mascot is August 31st , after which they will be published for LibreOffice users to vote on. However, the final decision regarding the new mascot rests with the LibreOffice Board of Directors, so if the winning design is not to their liking, they may choose a different one.
