En this new release of Kubuntu 18.04 which it is renewed with Firefox 59 as a web browser, LibreOffice 6.0 as an office suite, Kirta 4.0.1 on the image editing side and several of the KDE desktop environment tools like kio-gdrive, Kstars, KDEConnect among others.
This time I share with you this little installation guide focused mainly on new users. Although Kubuntu is a derivative of Ubuntu, Kubuntu continues to support 32-bit systems so it is still an excellent option for those who want to continue with Ubuntu and do not want to use distributions that sacrifice the part of visual appearance.
El The first requirement to install Kubuntu 18.04 LTS is to download the ISO of the system for this it is extremely important to know if we also have the minimum requirements to be able to install the system and not have functionality problems.

Minimum Requirements
To install Kubuntu 18.04 We must have at least the following requirements:
- Processor: 1 GHz x86.
- RAM memory: 1 GB.
- Hard Drive: 10 GB for a full installation with swap included
- VGA graphics card and monitor capable of supporting a resolution of 1024 × 768.
- CD-ROM or network card reader.
- Sound card.
- Internet connection.
Prepare Installation Media
Windows: We can burn ISO with Imgburn, UltraISO, Nero or any other program even without them in Windows 7 and later it gives us the option to right click on the ISO.
Linux: You can use any CD image management tool, especially the one that comes with graphical environments, among them are, Brasero, k3b, and Xfburn.

Windows: You can use Universal USB Installer or LinuxLive USB Creator, both are easy to use.
Linux: The recommended option is to use the dd command.
dd bs=4M if=/ruta/a/Kubuntu.iso of=/dev/sdx sync
Kubuntu 18.04 LTS installation step by step
Before starting with the Kubuntu boot, we must configure the BIOS of our computer so that it starts with our installation medium, in addition to that if it has UEFI you must deactivate it, for those who do not know what UEFI is they can look a little in the net.
Once the system is booted, we will be inside it and a screen similar to the one I show will appear, where we will see a single icon on the desktop, we just have to double click this to start the installer wizard.
With that The wizard will start and immediately the first part of the configuration will be to choose the language With which we are going to work with the installer and the one that our system will have once it is installed and selected, click on next.
On this screen It will ask us to configure the language and keymap of our keyboard, where we will be shown an image with the position of the keys and with which we can confirm if it is the one we are using, already confirmed we give in next.
Now In the next step, it asks us if we want the installation to be done normally with all Kubuntu applications and configurations or if we want a minimal installation, this installation only includes what is necessary, which are necessary configurations and the web browser, everything else is discarded.
At the bottom it asks us if we want to install the private drivers as well as the updates of the system while the installation is carried out on our equipment.
In the next section we have to configure the space where Kubuntu 18.04 will be installed on our computer. Here we have two options.
- The first is to remove everything from the disk and have the system installed on the entire disk.
- The other one, which is the «Manual» one, in it we will configure the disk where we want it to be installed or the partition that we will assign to the system on our computer, here we can also edit the partitions to assign the swap if required and also an advanced installation separating the partitions to our need.
Done this, on the next screen we just choose our time zone.
Y finally we only configure a user, as well as a password for the system with which we will log in to it and it will be the one we use to use superuser privileges.
We just have to wait for the installation of Kubuntu 18.04 on our computer to finish, at the end we just have to remove our installation medium and restart our computer.
