HP has released a new version of its HP Linux Imaging & Printing software, also known as HPLIP . The new version is v3.19.5 and, as with every update, includes support for new printers, scanners, fax machines, and operating systems. Among the distributions supported in this version are the recently released Ubuntu 19.04, Debian 9.8, and Fedora 30, released in April, February, and April, respectively. While HPLIP could already be installed on these operating systems, this is now an official support.
For those unfamiliar with it, HPLIP is software that includes everything needed to use printers, scanners, and fax machines on Linux , including the necessary drivers. It's not a GUI program, meaning you can print documents directly from its window without launching any other software. HPLIP integrates seamlessly with the system. We can install HPLIP from various software centers or using the command " sudo apt install hplip " (without the quotes), which will install the software and 20 dependencies. Some Linux distributions already include it by default, so you'll just need to wait for the packages to update. Those who don't have it installed or want to update now can download HPLIP from here.
