These days, the most common way to read is with ebooks, electronic books that have been outselling printed books for some time now. The first electronic format to gain universal adoption was PDF, although the EPUB format offers better features since font size and margins can be modified to suit reading preferences, which is why we sometimes need to convert files. Let's see how to convert a PDF to EPUB using Calibre , an open-source reading tool available for Linux.
The first step is, of course, to download and install Calibre , which we can do from its official website or using the package manager provided by our Linux distribution . Next, we need to add the PDFs we want to convert . We do this by clicking the 'Add books' button (the first one on the left with the red book and the '+' sign) and then selecting all the ones we want to convert.
Next, we need to click the 'Convert books' button , which opens the options window. Don't be intimidated by the number of options, but the most important ones to keep in mind are the input and output format settings , which should be set to PDF and EPUB, respectively.
Clicking the 'Accept' button (bottom right) starts the conversion process, which will only take a couple of minutes at most. A progress bar displays the progress, showing how much time is left. Once the conversion is complete, the content will be available in both PDF and ePub formats.
