elementary OS 5.1.5 arrives with improvements in AppCenter, Files and general fixes

elementary OS 5.1.5

I remember the days when Daniel Foré and his team took a long time to release new versions of their operating system or bug fixes. Those days are gone, at least in terms of maintenance updates. Just one month after the previous version , the development team behind this beautiful and functional operating system has had the pleasure of announcing the release of elementary OS 5.1.5 , which continues to use the codename Hera.

This version doesn't include any major changes, but Cassidy James Blaede does highlight the improvements made to AppCenter , its software center, and its file manager. Below you'll find a more detailed explanation of these and other changes that arrived with elementary OS 5.1.5 Hera.

Highlights of elementary OS 5.1.5

AppCenter

Improvements have been introduced, such as the ability to install updates without administrator privileges . They explain that they believe it's important for these privileges to still be required when installing new software, but it doesn't make sense when updating existing software. This will also apply to Flatpak applications.

Furthermore, the apps on the home screen are now more reliably displayed by retrieving previous results and returning to them when necessary. The reliability of the dock's update indicator has also been improved , resulting in a more accurate display of the number of available updates.

Files

Now, when you copy an image and paste it into another application, the image itself will be pasted instead of paths, provided the destination application supports it. Similarly, you can now paste one or more items cut or copied into another folder using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V with the folder selected. Many other minor bugs have also been fixed.

Among other changes introduced in elementary OS 5.1.5 Hera, we have

  • In Network settings, support for various types of network encryption has been improved and the encryption type is reported more precisely.
  • Fixed possible freezing when changing multiple panel settings, including Power, Date & Time, and Desktop settings.
  • Performance has been greatly improved when changing the month in the datetime indicator when it has events, in addition, they have fixed missing event points in certain situations. In the Calendar app itself, several issues with adding and deleting monthly recurring events have been fixed.
  • System icons have been updated to use new consistent Bubblegum and Mint palette colors.
  • Urgent software update and synchronized sync, and new sizes for window close symbolic icons and preferences have been applied

Existing users can upgrade to this version from within the same operating system. For new installations, the elementary OS 5.1.5 Hera ISO can be downloaded from this link.
