Colony Ship: Post-Earth Colonization Comes to Linux

Colony Ship Linux

Colony Ship is a turn-based video game with support for Windows, MacOS and Linux. It has been developed by Iron Tower Studio, and is now available through Steam Early Access, as well as on GOG. Therefore, you can see if those 90% of positive reviews have first-hand basis. But the truth is that it looks pretty good, and promises good hours of entertainment.

Colony Ship is based on a story by colonization of other planets in a post-Earth era. In addition, it uses a very powerful and well-known graphics engine, since it is based on Unreal 4. As for the type of video game, as I have said, it is by turns of the groups involved, and role-playing style. Everything happens aboard a spacecraft launched to Proxima Centauri, in the year 2754, at which time the Earth is no longer what it was, and where many many of the embargoed on this ship do not even know it.

The Colony Ship video game also features a detailed character system based on skills and ways of handling missions, with a careful dialogue system. Your choices will determine who will be your friends and enemies. In addition, you will notice that this isometric role-playing game is inspired by another well-known title, such as Orphans of the Sky. Another title with some similarities in terms of history.

Other characteristics of the Colony Ship are:

  • Skill-based character system.
  • Turn-based tactical combat with different weapons.
  • Multiple solutions for a branching main story.
  • Different personalities of the members.
  • 3 main factions and a score of other minor groups.
  • Huge arsenal of melee weapons, firearms, grenades, and other futuristic devices, such as camouflage fields, reality distortion generators, energy shields, etc.
  • Different environments to explore: engine room, hydroponics, dystopian cities, ruins ...
