Budgie Desktop 11 will depend less on Gnome

Budgie 10.2.8

We recently had a new version of Solus and its popular Budgie Desktop. And like all development that concludes, the next version of the distribution and Budgie Desktop is already being considered.

The new version will be Budgie Desktop 11, a version that portends big changes to the desktop, as can be deduced from its numbering. And it really will be according to the news broadcast by the makers of Budgie Desktop.

Budgie Desktop 11 will be a modular desk written in Vala

As mentioned, Budgie Desktop 11 will reduce dependency on Gnome, a dependency that limits it in a certain way or makes the desktop heavier than normal. The new Budgie Desktop will be written in Vala and will be composed by a core package, a panel, a session package or program, a Window Manager package, a run-dialog package which will be like a launcher and a daemon that will automate certain desktop processes.

These packages or modules make Budgie Desktop 11 a modular desk and by extension, a desktop that is easier to manipulate and change, thus reducing dependence on Gnome and increasing the possibilities of being able to customize it to our liking, being able to change the window manager or the session manager for another that we like more without forgetting the fact that to be able to change other parameters of the modules without affecting the rest of the elements.

All of this takes a lot of work and practically redo the whole desktop so it may take us a long time to see this new version of this striking desktop.

In any case, in the github repository not only can we download all of Budgie's source code but we can also we can see how development is progressing and also collaborate with the team, something that the main developers will surely appreciate.
