WINE 11.9 arrives with improvements for ARM and almost 200 changes

WineHQ launched A new bi-weekly version of their software for running Windows applications on other operating systems was released a few hours ago. WINE 11.9This new development version marks the halfway point of this cycle, at least in terms of numbers. They typically release around 20 of these updates each year.

As for new features, WINE 11.9 includes the SQLite library, initial support for system threads, thread suspension in ARM64 emulated code, and further VBScript compatibility improvements, along with the usual miscellaneous bug fixes. Bugs fixed in WINE 11.9

  • The Lotus Notes 8.x installer aborts with a SAX parser exception (line breaks are not preserved).
  • Logos 9: Unexpected closure during indexing due to invalid string format.
  • Cannot run console program “hello world”: unhandled page fault.
  • WinSCP interface rendering problem.
  • Assertion in vbscript compile_assignment when assigning a multidimensional array by indices.
  • VBScript cannot compile a subroutine call when the argument expression contains a multiplication.
  • VBScript: a number in string format is converted to the ASCII value instead of the interpreted value.
  • rebase (Windows SDK tool) closes unexpectedly due to unimplemented function imagehlp.dll.ReBaseImage64.
  • The Homesite 5.5 installer progress bar is missing its outline.
  • GOM Player: Interface elements do not respond to mouse clicks.
  • The Wargaming Game Center window does not appear or is invisible.
  • Graphpad Prism 9: Project Files (.pzfx) cannot be saved if msxml6 is not installed.
  • msvcrt: high character ranges (\x80-\xff) On scanf scanset They fail due to a comparison with signed char en scanf.h.
  • GXSCC closes unexpectedly when dragging a valid MIDI file into its window.

Wine 11.9 is now available for download from the button below. Its download page also contains information on how to install this and other versions on Linux operating systems, as well as others like macOS and even Android.

In two weeks, if the usual schedule holds and nothing suggests otherwise, WINE 11.10 will arrive, also with dozens of changes to prepare for WINE 12.0, which, based on past releases, will arrive in early 2027. This pace will continue until the end of the year, when the release frequency will increase to weekly Release Candidates, then stable (WINE 12), and then development of WINE 13.0 will begin.
