WINE 11.2 arrives with improved PDB loading and over 200 changes

No surprises with the launch of WINE 11.2. It is following the expected path: on January 13th threw The stable version of WINE 11.0 was released two weeks ago, the first development version of WINE 12.0 was released two weeks ago, and the second version was released a few hours ago. Except for occasional breaks due to holidays and other more relaxed periods, there will be a development version every two weeks, and that's what we've started to see at the beginning of 2026, which we've now entered.

WINE 11.2 has arrived with improvements to PDB loading, support for MSVC constructors in the C runtime, and a simpler mechanism for creating version sources, in addition to the usual miscellaneous bug fixes.   • Imperium GBR does not play the audio associated with videos when the native dsound.dll is loaded in WINE.
  • explorer.exe needs the "Cascade Windows" feature (implementation of user32.CascadeWindows) in WINE.
  • explorer.exe requires the implementation of "TileWindows" (user32.TileWindows()) in WINE.
  • Black Mirror (2017) has poor performance in d3d11 mode in WINE.
  • Futuremark 3DMark Vantage 1.1.x requires support for D3D11_FORMAT_SUPPORT_*** in WINE.
  • Some movies have no audio in some Daedalic games (A New Beginning and Night of the Rabbit) in WINE.
  • The default line wrapping mode DWRITE_WORD_WRAPPING_WRAP is not handled correctly in WINE.
  • The ground texture in The Hong Kong Massacre has graphical glitches with the OpenGL renderer in WINE.
  • Alacritty hangs on startup (requires the implementation of ResizePseudoConsole) in WINE.
  • Sam & Max Save the World: episode Culture Shock (original GOG edition) freezes when starting the game in WINE.
  • MilkyTracker does not work: there are no valid waveout devices in WINE.
  • The FIFA 2005 demo opens the menu after five minutes in WINE.
  • The 4Story launcher tries to download a file but it doesn't work in WINE.
  • MMH7Editor does not start in WINE.
  • Drop-down lists do not work, including Winecfg, in WINE.
  • Progress does not advance until the mouse is moved in WINE.
  • Pegasus Mail restores the window immediately in WINE.
  • Poor performance in an old Sonic fangame based on DirectX 8 with wined3d in WINE.
  • osu!stable freezes when running on winewayland in WINE.
  • xactengine3_7:xact3 has been crashing since 2025-11-19 with Debian 12 and earlier on WINE.
  • Divinity II: Developer's Cut crashes after displaying the loading screen in WINE.
  • GTA: San Andreas and Vice City do not render the intro videos correctly and only show a white screen in WINE.
  • The Windows batch command "WHERE" returns an incorrect exit code in silent mode in WINE.
  • Shop Titans crashes on WINE 11.0.
  • Serial baud rates above 115200 are not supported due to a bug in serial.c in WINE.
  • The Gothic 1 demo freezes when starting in WINE.
  • Nexus Terminal installation ended abnormally (regression) in WINE.
  • Kyodai Mahjongg runs without audio in WOW64 on WINE.
  • Codename Panzers Phase 1 and 2 do not start with EGL in WINE.

Wine 11.2 is now available for download from the button below. Its download page also contains information on how to install this and other versions on Linux operating systems, as well as others like macOS and even Android.

In two weeks, if the usual schedule holds and nothing suggests otherwise, WINE 11.3 will arrive, also with dozens of changes to prepare for WINE 12.0, which, based on past releases, will arrive in early 2027. This pace will continue until the end of the year, when the release frequency will increase to weekly Release Candidates, then stable (WINE 12), and then development of WINE 13.0 will begin.
