
The developers of Wine Is Not an Emulator are still working on the version they will deliver in early 2026. A few hours ago they have given us WINE 11.0-rc3, which is the third candidate for stability. As the rc2It arrives without a list of highlights, a section in which you can now only read «Bug fixes only, we are in code freeze"And that's where we are now, putting the finishing touches on the next big release."
In numbers, the following have been carried out a total of 47 retouches, much less than the hundreds that are usual during the rest of the year, and corrected a total of 17 bugs, those in the following list.
Bugs fixed in WINE 11.0-rc3
- The DirectX 8.1 SDK installation fails due to an error in an MSI custom action.
- The execution of commands that contain special symbols is truncated.
- The Call of Cthulhu intro videos are not playing correctly.
- RollerCoaster Tycoon 1-2: the renaming dialog box is hidden behind the game screen.
- user32: clipboard: test_string_data_process() fails on Windows with mixed locales.
- Saving files in Microsoft Word/Excel 2010 creates useless shortcuts.
- Null pointer dereferencing in MiniDumpWriteDump.
- Syntax error in CMD batch file analysis.
- Regression in TI-Nspire software.
- Burnout Paradise is experiencing rendering problems.
- The flickering in a video surveillance app has returned.
- Updating to 10.15 causes a corrupted fullscreen mode in Limelight Lemonade Jam.
- VRChat's sound output breaks down after starting video playback when using the AVPro player.
- The GLX backend does not work with NVIDIA binary drivers since WINE 10.19.
- A Mahjong game fails to display at startup; it appears to be blocked or stuck in an infinite loop.
- Steam: The client starts, but all window content appears in black or white.
- Performance issues in Clickteam games.
Now available
WINE 11.0-rc3 is now available for download from the button below. Its download page also contains information on how to install this and other versions on Linux operating systems, as well as others like macOS and even Android.
Next week, if the usual schedule holds and there's no reason to think otherwise, WINE 11.0-rc4 will arrive, also without a featured list, only mentioning that it's now available. The stable version will be released in early 2026.
