WINE 11.8 arrives with the Mono 11.1.0 engine and introduces more than 200 changes.

WINE 11.8

Wine Is Not an Emulator is a program that allows you to run Windows applications on other operating systems. A Windows program likely uses the .NET Framework, which is why the Mono engine is so important. A few hours ago, WineHQ posted WINE 11.8And its most notable new feature is that they have updated the Mono engine to version 11.1.0. We also remind you that this version arrived two weeks after the previous 11.7.

Other notable updates include further work on the MSXML reimplementation without libxms2, improved support for the keyboard layer using XKBRegistry, and additional compatibility improvements for VBScript, along with the usual miscellaneous bug fixes. In numerical terms, the following improvements have been made: 239 changes and corrected 22 bugs, those in the following list.

Now available

Wine 11.8 is now available for download from the button below. Its download page also contains information on how to install this and other versions on Linux operating systems, as well as others like macOS and even Android.

In two weeks, if the usual schedule holds and nothing suggests otherwise, WINE 11.9 will arrive, also with dozens of changes to prepare for WINE 12.0, which, based on past releases, will arrive in early 2027. This pace will continue until the end of the year, when the release frequency will increase to weekly Release Candidates, then stable (WINE 12), and then development of WINE 13.0 will begin.
