WINE 10.18 arrives with support for WinRT exceptions and almost 300 changes

Now that it's November, there are only a few weeks left before they start releasing the Release Candidates for Wine Is Not an Emulator. But for now, they'll continue releasing a development version every two weeks. What They delivered it to us a few hours ago. es WINE 10.18, an iteration without a flashy list of new features, but which continues to pave the way for the next stable release and improve the software for those who prefer whatever is available when it is available.

This list of new features includes OpenGL memory mapping using Vulkan in WoW64 mode, a synchronization barrier API, support for WinRT exceptions, and SCSI pass-through in WoW64 mode, in addition to the usual miscellaneous bug fixes. In total, they have fixed 30 bugs and made 268 changes.

Bugs fixed in WINE 10.18

  • The Yukon Trail installer freezes at the end during DDE communication with Progman.
  • Sid Meier's Pirates! suffers from frequent pauses and temporary blockages.
  • The Yukon Trail installer is unable to install its power supply.
  • The cmd command with pipe | does not activate the end of file (EOF) in ReadFile.
  • WINE D3D Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour takes a long time to load or maximize.
  • GL applications (and D3D applications that use the GL backend) are slow in the new WoW64 mode.
  • Winetricks vb5run fails.
  • Autodesk Fusion requires GetUserLanguages, which is not implemented.
  • The automatic update dialog in KeePass 2 is broken (it uses TaskDialog). WinForms' EnableVisualStyles() function apparently doesn't work.
  • “Permission denied” versus “No such file or directory” when opening folders with a trailing backslash.
  • The _SH_SECURE sharing flag is not supported and causes _wfsopen to fail.
  • CD Manipulator cannot detect the drive model name in WoW64 experimental mode.
  • The wait cursor is not displayed.
  • Exact Audio Copy: cannot interact with the DVD drive in WoW64.
  • Realterm_2.0.0.70 crashes on startup.
  • Nightshade crashes: err:seh:NtRaiseException unhandled exception code c0000409 (native vcruntime140 prevents failure).
  • Jolly Rover freezes on startup with 100% CPU usage.
  • Directory Opus fails to start.
  • Delayed startup of WINE processes in version 10.16 when winemenubuilder.exe is disabled.
  • Error of type DllNotFoundException in mscorlib.dll inside wine-mono-10.2.0.
  • MDk 2 games have problems on Windows.
  • Several applications are crashing with an assertion failure in cache_inproc_sync().
  • The Witcher 2 freezes on startup.
  • ConfigureNotify is not being processed correctly in XFCE.
  • PlayOnline Viewer: The application runs and functions, but only displays a black screen.
  • macOS: Problem with focusing or activating windows.
  • The compilation fails from commit db2e157c if autoreconf needs to be applied beforehand.
  • getCurrentThreadID error when activating speedhack in Cheat Engine.
  • Error kernel32.timeGetTime when enabling speedhack in Cheat Engine.
  • Minimized applications are restored with -4 vertical pixels (redux).
