
As planned and with the punctuality that characterizes them, WineHQ made official yesterday the launch of a new development version. What has arrived this time, and it has done so with the usual two weeks' difference from the earlier versionit's WINE 10.17, a normal, or rather usual, release, if it weren't for the fact that a very important engine has been updated when it comes to running Windows applications.
WINE 10.17 arrives with the Mono engine updated to version 10.3. 0, now using the EGL renderer by default in OpenGL, COMCTL32 has been separated into v5 and v6 modules, support for ANSI ODBC drivers has been improved, and CPU reporting on FreeBSD has been improved, along with the usual list of various bug fixes. In numbers, WINE 10.17 has introduced 355 changes and corrected 17 bugs, those in the following list.
Bugs fixed in WINE 10.17
- The Copy command does not support WITH or WITH:.
- tlReader 10.x crashes when searching the dictionary due to issues with theme compatibility detection in wxWidgets 2.9.4 using comctl32 v6.
- Metro 2033 crashes on exit.
- In wcmd.exe, a trailing slash in “if exist SomeDir/” always returns false.
- In INSIDE, the ground is rendered black using the OpenGL engine.
- Some buttons in the Free Virtual Keyboard settings dialog are unthemed; requires comctl32 version 6.
- create_logical_proc_info (stub): Applications cannot create multiple threads.
- The “type” command does not support binary files.
- So Blonde has very long loading times.
- Erratic mouse movement with Wayland driver in Throne and Liberty.
- Wine 9.20: Regression in application window position on multi-monitor laptops.
- wine-mono: ASan triggers on mono_path_canonicalize due to parameter overlap in strcpy.
- The Roon music player only displays a white screen, although the invisible buttons technically work.
- Downloading large files using WinHTTP fails with error WSATIMEDOUT.
- 16-bit applications crash under the new wow64 on some processors.
- Unable to compile version 10.16.
- The Wine configuration window does not appear after creating the prefix.
