WINE 10.16 arrives with support for 16-bit apps in the new WoW64 mode and nearly 400 changes.

Continuing with its development and three weeks after the previous version, WineHQ launched WINE 10.16The number of changes introduced is somewhat surprising. While it's true that in the past there were nearly 600 changes, it's also true that this number has dropped significantly in WINE 10.x. This is supposedly because the software is more mature, but the 374 changes in this development version seem to be a thing of the past. As we've already started with the numbers, the list of fixed bugs has dropped to 34.

As for the most notable new features, support for fast synchronization using NTSync has been introduced, 16-bit apps are supported in the new WoW64 mode, initial support for D3DKMT objects and WinMD (Windows Metadata) files are generated and installed, plus the usual list of various bug fixes.   • vbscript fails to handle ReDim when the variable has not been created yet.
  • 16-bit applications crash in wow64 mode.

  • WINE 10.14 fails to compile on Alpine Linux x86.
  • Regression: Xenia Canary crashes with STATUS_CONFLICTING_ADDRESSES when starting a game in WINE 10.13+ (works in 10.12).
  • The Profi cash 12 user interface is mostly displayed in black.
  • Regression: Direct3D applications display a blank screen under wined3d on 10.15.
  • Wolfenstein: The New Order (Wolfenstein: Old Blood) – the screen is black.
  • wmic now also prints system properties since 3c8a072b.
  • Camerabag Pro 2025.2 crashes with unhandled exception (unimplemented function propsys.dll.PropVariantToFileTime) when uploading a JPEG.
  • Images in iTunes have a white background.
  • winedbg: internal failure at 00006FFFFF8CB5E5 (pe_load_msc_debug_info).
  • Missing type in get_type inside dlls/msi/suminfo.c.
