WINE 10.12 adds support for Bluetooth LE devices and introduces over 200 changes

WineHQ continues to tirelessly improve its software to run Windows software on other operating systems without emulation. The latest development version has seen the light just a few hours ago, and it's WINE 10.12, which features some interesting new features. For example, support for Bluetooth LE devices has been added, allowing low-power wireless devices to connect to applications running through WINE.

The rest of the list of notable new features is completed by the optional EGL backend in the X11 driver, more support for generating Windows Runtimes in WIDL and ARM64 builds enabled in GitLab CI, in addition to the usual list of miscellaneous fixes. In terms of numbers, 17 bugs have been fixed, those in the following list, and a total of 210 changes made.

  • GetPointerPenInfo is missing from USER32.dll when trying to run Clip Studio Paint 3.0.
  • FindVUK does not show drive details.
  • Wine Internet Settings crashes due to unimplemented function shdocvw.dll.ParseURLFromOutsideSourceW.
  • Soldier of Fortune II crashes on startup.
  • Flickering in games using dxvk/vkd3d-proton on sway.
  • The Betfair Poker installation never goes past the initial screen.
  • Converting winepath -w produces incorrect file names.
  • In x11, KOTOR continues to be minimized.
  • Total Commander 11.55 displays “Access Denied” for every file 1 MB or larger in “Compare Files by Content”.
  • Wine Mono's corlib tests cause wineserver to throw an assert.
