Vivaldi 7.8

Just two days ago we published an article in which I talked about the Firefox split viewIt was already enabled by default in the Nightly version. In it, he mentioned that Vivaldi's is much better, and, for example, you could change the position by dragging and dropping from the tab bar. Today they released Vivaldi 7.8And what a coincidence that the timing of the release of that version and its most outstanding new feature.

In Vivaldi 7.7 and earlier, if we wanted to stack two or more tabs, we could do so from the icon in the bottom panel or with a keyboard shortcut. Since Linux already has some functionality assigned to the default key (Ctrl), I use Alt + 9 (vertical), + 8 (horizontal), + 7 (tiled), and + 6 (undo all), but Vivaldi 7.8 still This will make this type of stacking even easier: simply drag and drop..

Desktop environments like GNOME and KDE have long allowed users to stack windows by dragging them to the edges, and Vivaldi 7.8 works in much the same way: from a tab, simply drag and move it within the window until a drop point appears, and releasing it will stack the windows. With this, I think I'll be able to forget about Alt+6-9 forever.

To see a demonstration, it's worth watching the video of the notes from this release.

Vivaldi 7.8 allows you to stack and reposition tabs by dragging and dropping.

Drag and drop still works once tabs are in place. You can reorder, reposition, and even add more tabs. Additionally, a new context menu, "Open link as tiled tab," has been added. This will automatically open the link in a new tab instead of requiring you to rearrange everything.

Pinned tabs are now restricted by domain, provided this new option is enabled. This will keep pinned tabs more organized. If you choose to pin the email tab, it will remain pinned across all workspaces. They've also taken this opportunity to make internal tweaks, and performance will be improved in this version.

Vivaldi 7.8 is now available from its official website, its PPA, and the snap package. The Flathub package, which remains unofficial until further notice, will be updated soon.
