New episode in the series Recall Microsoft's horror-themed Copilot+ app, where users with a PC can have a naive spy who could report everything about them to any hacker. Microsoft has updated the tool with security and privacy changes, which was the main reason for the delay of a launch that was planned for June. There are important differences and it seems that Copilot+ will be coming to all PCs soon.
Using Recall is now optional, more specifically what in English is labeled as Opt-in. Before activating it, the system will show us a clear message that we will have to accept or reject with "Yes" or "No" buttons. Furthermore, and If nothing changes again, it is possible to uninstall Recall, including all associated Artificial Intelligence models.
Recall is late and will be optional
To address security concerns, Recall encryption is now linked to the TPM platform (Trusted Platform Module) and requires Windows Hello authorization to access stored data. Data processing takes place in a virtualization-based security enclave, isolated from sensitive tasks in a virtual machine. Outside of this environment, application is protected by anti-malware processes to protect against malicious kernel drivers.
Updates also allow users to Filter specific apps and websites, which ensures that sensitive content such as passwords or credit cards are not stored. In addition, it is possible to delete data for a specific period of time, application, website or delete everything at once.
This updated version Copilot+ will arrive in October only on PCs, which requires a special processor and other hardware such as BitLocker, VBS, and kernel DMA protections. There is no scheduled date for its arrival on other Windows 11 computers.
