These days I'm thinking of going back to Firefox, but Vivaldi has me completely hooked. The reason is simply the options it offers, and one thing I absolutely love is the ability to have two tabs in split view. The red panda browser is falling behind in terms of customization, but Firefox Nightly is taking small steps to allow users to personalize things to their liking.
Mozilla recently released the latest Nightly updates, the most notable of which you can see in the header screenshot: when creating a profile, you can now customize the image that appears next to it. Previously, the image displayed was simply an icon to choose from several options. It's a small difference, but it can be useful when sharing a computer.
Firefox Nightly and the different profiles
Profiles are designed to separate activity and usage . For example, you can have one for personal use and another for work. The ability to add custom images is especially useful if the profiles are for different people. A personal image can clearly identify each user. But be careful: remember that you can switch between profiles without being prompted for a password.
To add an image to a profile, simply:
- Click on the hamburger, then on Profiles and then on New Profile.
- In the window that appears, we choose a name and a color.
- In the circular image, we click on Edit.
- Finally, we select the image.
It's that simple. It's basically the same as before, but now there's an additional option that allows you to customize the image.
If you're wondering when this will hit the stable version, it's unknown. What they test in Nightly doesn't always make it to the stable version, but I think this one will arrive in a few weeks.
