La Steam Machine It was unveiled at the end of 2025 and is scheduled to go on sale this year, in the first quarter to be more precise. For many, like myself, who want something pre-assembled that offers decent performance, it's an interesting device, but many of us agree that its success will depend on the price. And that's what we're going to talk about today, more specifically, a rumor that might depress many. Or maybe not.
The price of the Steam Machine has reportedly been leaked, and it seems too high at first glance. The story begins on a website that appears to belong to a Valve reseller. Smarty.czThe Steam Machine was listed in the page's code with prices that, converted, would be $950 for the 512GB model and $1070 for the 2TB modelIt gives you goosebumps, doesn't it?
The price of the Steam Machine won't be that high
The price of the Steam Machine won't be that high. This rumor really caught my attention, so I did my research. The first thing I did was go to the website and see how things were going there: I searched for "steam deck" to see how much the OLED was going for, and, although I don't understand Czech, I did see that They are offering the Steam Deck OLED for 19.990 CZK, which is about €823,11 at the time of writing this article.
From that moment on, I could breathe again. In Spain, the 1TB Steam Deck OLED costs €679, which is €144 less than on Smarty.cz. One thing is clear: On this website, they add an extra feature to obtain benefits.What is not so clear is whether the price revealed in the code is the price that Smarty.cz will have in the future or if they are just using it to fill the space (placeholder).
More hopeful conclusions
Let's assume the prices are what they will be, which hasn't been confirmed yet, and that the 2TB Steam Machine will be priced at 22305 Czech crowns on Smarty.cz, presumably including taxes. That would be €917, from which we would have to subtract the reseller's markup. 823 is approximately 679 x 1,21, and the reverse calculation on the €917 price would give us a result of the Steam Machine costing €759.
So if the page has the correct prices and the percentages are as I've explained, the leak could have revealed the final price of the Steam MachineAnd it wouldn't be so bad. Especially after imagining it would cost approximately €1000 + VAT.
UPDATEDThe store in question reportedly admitted that it had no idea about the prices, that it had made them up.
